Did somebody die?

This morning when I showed up for work

My friends asked me, what's the matter?

You look as if somebody has died.

I said, with a long heavy sigh.

Nobody died, just my illusion was shattered.

I was played for a fool; 

I now realize I will have to go back to the school of life.

I just signed up for a course in pretense and deception

And I will drop out of the course in dreams.

You'll see I henceforth only write in Braille 

So my blind friends would learn one truth supreme:

Be real, be true, and remember like attracts like.
